About Candyfloss Press

Candyfloss Press is an independent British publisher of sharp, character-driven fiction.

Our characters have history. Careers that peaked or quietly imploded. Relationships that ended with a solicitor or a suitcase. Adventures stopped and started or those over before they began. At the point where most stories finish, ours pick up.

We publish cosy mysteries where you recognise the sleuths, midlife romances with protagonists who know what a second chance costs, and thrillers driven by people who have a lot of life to juggle. From faded seaside towns to the back rooms of London pubs, our settings are as lived-in as our characters.

What connects every Candyfloss Press title is a refusal to treat midlife as the end. Our books are warm but not soft, funny but not frivolous, and deeply interested in the question most fiction ignores: what do you do when the world think you’re done?

Cosy Thrillers

Vivienne Knox writes intelligent, cosy thrillers that explore power, influence, and the hidden structures shaping modern life from the safe lens of its female protagonists.

She is the author of The Velvet Intelligence series, a glamorous but fun espionage saga set in the late twentieth century, inspired by Agatha Christie’s Seven Dials mystery, where a covert, elite network operates in the shadows of global politics and culture.

Her Art of Influence series follows a new generation navigating that same world in a more modern era, where reputation, manipulation, and visibility are as dangerous as any weapon.
