Humorous Women’s Fiction
Warm, funny British fiction about ordinary women and the unexpected turns their lives take.
Daisy Penrose writes warm, funny stories where ordinary women find themselves somewhere they hadn’t expected to be.
Sometimes that’s a seaside holiday park. Sometimes it’s several hundred years in the past.
Her stories are about friendship, family and community.
Life at Paradise Park is set on a weathered holiday park on the South Coast, where many of the residents have quietly become rather more permanent than the brochures suggest.
The series begins with Lucy Rae, who arrives at Paradise Park with what’s left of her redundancy money and very little idea what she’s going to do next.
She soon discovers that life on the park comes with neighbours, friendships, small disasters and an astonishing amount of other people’s business.
Mitzi Spinelli runs a curiosity shop in Canterbury. Among its shelves are objects with stories of their own, and when Mitzi handles them, she can find herself pulled into the past.
Each book begins with an object and leads Mitzi into the story of a woman history has overlooked.
Unfortunately, getting into the past turns out to be considerably easier than knowing what to do when you get there.
