The Art of Influence carries the story into the 1990s, as a new generation begins to take its place within the Behn Circle.
Imogen Hale is an actress who has never been a star and never particularly wanted to be. In 1991, she takes over the Circle as the Cold War ends and power begins to operate in different ways.
Politics, celebrity, media and public image create a new landscape, but this is a handover rather than a new beginning. Harriet remains part of Imogen’s life, just as Imogen’s story began before Harriet’s had quite finished.
